# Setting Up Facebook Ads Manager

Facebook Ads Manager is the central platform for creating, managing, and analyzing ads across Facebook and Instagram. Whether you're running a small business or managing large-scale campaigns, Ads Manager provides the tools you need to reach your target audience, optimize ad performance, and measure the success of your campaigns. In this guide, we’ll walk you through the process of setting up Facebook Ads Manager so you can start running effective campaigns.

***

#### Step 1: Create a Facebook Business Account

Before you can access Facebook Ads Manager, you'll need to have a **Facebook Business Account**. This account allows you to manage your business’s ad campaigns, pages, and assets all in one place.

To create a Facebook Business Account:

1. Go to **business.facebook.com**.
2. Click on **Create Account** and follow the prompts.
3. Enter your business name, your name, email address, and other details.
4. Verify your email to complete the account setup.

Once your business account is set up, you can access Facebook Ads Manager from this dashboard.

***

#### Step 2: Set Up Your Facebook Page (If You Haven’t Already)

Your Facebook page acts as the foundation for your ads. All your ads will be linked to this page, so it’s essential to ensure it’s set up and optimized before running ads. If you don’t have a Facebook business page yet:

1. Go to **facebook.com/pages/create**.
2. Choose the type of page you want to create (Local Business, Brand, Organization, etc.).
3. Fill in the required information, including your page name, category, and contact details.
4. Once the page is created, make sure to upload a profile picture and cover photo to make your page more visually appealing.

***

#### Step 3: Link Your Facebook Page to Ads Manager

Now that you have a Facebook Business Account and Page, you need to link your page to Ads Manager. This will allow you to manage ads from that page.

1. In **Facebook Ads Manager**, go to **Business Settings**.
2. Under **Accounts**, select **Pages**.
3. Click on **Add** and choose **Add a Page**.
4. Either select an existing page or enter the name or URL of the page you want to connect.
5. Click **Add Page**, and your page will be linked to Ads Manager.

***

#### Step 4: Set Up Your Ad Account

Your Facebook Ad Account is where all of your advertising budgets, payment methods, and campaigns will be stored. If you don’t already have one, you’ll need to create an Ad Account:

1. In **Business Settings**, click on **Ad Accounts**.
2. Click on **Add** and then **Create a New Ad Account**.
3. Enter the name of your account, time zone, currency, and payment method.
4. Click **Create**.

Once your ad account is set up, you’ll be able to manage your budget and start creating ad campaigns.

***

#### Step 5: Add a Payment Method

Before you can run ads, you’ll need to set up a payment method in Facebook Ads Manager. This can be done in the **Payment Settings** section of Ads Manager.

1. In **Business Settings**, click on **Payments**.
2. Click **Add Payment Method** and choose your preferred payment method (Credit/Debit card, PayPal, etc.).
3. Enter your payment details and save.

Facebook will charge the payment method based on your chosen billing cycle (weekly, monthly, or when a certain spending threshold is reached).

***

#### Step 6: Define Your Campaign Objective

Once your Ads Manager is set up, you can start creating your first campaign. The first step in campaign creation is selecting your **campaign objective**. Facebook provides various options, depending on what you want to achieve with your ad:

1. **Awareness**: Boost brand awareness or reach a wider audience.
2. **Consideration**: Drive traffic, engagement, or app installs, or generate leads.
3. **Conversion**: Drive sales or specific actions on your website or app.

Select the objective that aligns with your business goals to ensure your ad campaign is optimized for the right outcome.

***

#### Step 7: Set Up Your Audience Targeting

Facebook Ads Manager allows you to create highly targeted audience segments for your campaigns. You can target users based on:

* **Demographics**: Age, gender, location, job title, education, and more.
* **Interests**: What users like or engage with on Facebook (e.g., fitness, fashion, technology).
* **Behaviors**: Purchasing habits, device usage, and travel behavior.
* **Custom Audiences**: Use your own customer data (email list, website visitors) to create a custom audience.
* **Lookalike Audiences**: Target people who share similar characteristics to your best existing customers.

Defining your audience is one of the most important steps in setting up Facebook Ads, as it ensures your ads are shown to people most likely to take action.

***

#### Step 8: Create Your Ad Creative

With your audience defined, it’s time to create your ad creative. You can choose from several ad formats, including:

* **Image Ads**: Simple, high-quality images with text and a call-to-action (CTA).
* **Video Ads**: Engaging videos that tell a story or showcase your products or services.
* **Carousel Ads**: Multiple images or videos within one ad, allowing users to swipe through.
* **Collection Ads**: Combine video, images, and product details to create an immersive shopping experience.

Make sure to write compelling ad copy, include an engaging CTA, and ensure the visual elements are consistent with your brand. Facebook also recommends using high-quality images and videos that grab attention quickly.

***

#### Step 9: Set Your Budget and Schedule

Next, you’ll need to define your budget and schedule for the ad campaign. There are two main options for budgeting:

* **Daily Budget**: The average amount you’re willing to spend per day.
* **Lifetime Budget**: The total amount you’re willing to spend over the entire duration of the campaign.

You can also choose to run your ad continuously or schedule it to run during specific dates and times. It’s important to monitor your ad’s performance regularly and adjust your budget or schedule as needed.

***

#### Step 10: Review and Launch Your Campaign

Before launching your ad campaign, carefully review all the settings, including your audience targeting, ad creative, budget, and schedule. Make sure everything is aligned with your campaign goals.

Once you’re ready, click **Confirm** to launch your ad. Facebook Ads Manager will review your ad for compliance with their advertising policies, and once approved, your ad will start running.

***

#### Step 11: Monitor and Optimize Your Campaign

After your campaign is live, Facebook Ads Manager provides detailed performance metrics to help you track your ad’s success. You can monitor metrics such as:

* **CTR (Click-Through Rate)**: The percentage of people who clicked on your ad.
* **CPC (Cost per Click)**: The average cost you paid per click.
* **Conversions**: The number of actions taken (e.g., purchases, sign-ups).
* **ROAS (Return on Ad Spend)**: The revenue generated from your ad spend.

Regularly monitor these metrics to see how your campaign is performing. If you’re not seeing the results you want, try making adjustments to your audience, creative, or budget.

***

Setting up Facebook Ads Manager is the first step toward running successful ads on Facebook and Instagram. By following these steps, you can set up your account, create compelling ads, and monitor their performance to achieve your business goals. With Facebook’s robust targeting options, diverse ad formats, and detailed analytics, Ads Manager provides all the tools you need to create and manage effective campaigns.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://learn.sitecove.com/how-to-guides/ad-management/facebook-and-instagram-ads/setting-up-facebook-ads-manager.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
